WHAT IS EMPOWERING CREATIVITY?
Empowering creativity is an 8-weeks self-development program that teaches participants simple self-help techniques from a UKCP Registered Psychotherapist to work through their barriers and increase motivation and self-confidence. While attending a weekly group art workshop with a professional artist in a safe, caring and nurturing environment.
(5 participants max 10am-4pm £100per session x 8)
WHAT TO EXPECT
During the program Lynda Howell, our UKCP Registered Psychotherapist will be integrating the participants creative work with self-development, mindfulness and simple self-help techniques that they can continue to practice long after the course has finished. On five of the program days each participant will, depending on their individual needs, have a one-hour session with Lynda focused on learning self-help skills such as relaxation techniques, stress management and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).
In order to help participants, integrate the creative aspects of the program with their therapeutic learning Lynda will also facilitate six one-hour group sessions during the other three course days. The therapeutic approach will be focused on the here and now and empowering the client to use new skills and techniques to maintain healthy attachment to what is happening around them from moment to moment rather than being exposed to past memories and/or scared of the future.
WHAT IS EFT?
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is a Meridian bases energy therapy that removes negative emotional feelings from traumatic memories that have been trapped in the body/mind. It is a skill that once learned can be practiced by oneself quickly and easily to reduce stress, frustration, anger, sadness, anxiety, PTSD trauma and other negative emotions. This empowering technique will be taught without having to delve into traumatic or distressing past memories and thus enable the client to take charge of their own therapeutic process and personal growth.
The creative aspects of the program will reinforce the main therapeutic aim of enhancing a participant’s ability to focus more on the here and now. Learning to move between thinking and feeling into creativity will reinforce more grounded healthy ways to be in life. Sally Green the professional artist will mentor/teach/support and help the participant on their individual art project.
At the end of each the day (4pm-4.30pm) the facilitators will have a debrief together. This would enable them to explore the integration of the art/ greenwood work/ creative writing with the self-help technics taught and make any adjustments from session to session.
This program will help the participants move beyond self-limiting beliefs and open them up to greater possibilities.
